Farewell, great man! We have always admired your steadfast insistence on never sullying your hands as your oppressors have on you and all the others who were oppressed in South Africa.
I will never forget listening intently in one of your interviews, when you were asked why you made the decision on forgiveness over vengeance upon your release from prison. It seemed so simple. “If I brought my bitterness with me, then I would still be in prison.” And yet, it takes courage and conviction to overcome hatred and longing for justice. We will always be in awe.

Ditto to Gilly’s comment. I doubt there will be another icon of courage, compassion and integrity like him, in our lifetimes.
